What is a Good LNAT Score?

LNAT scores range from 0 to 42. Here's what different score ranges mean:

  • 35-42 - Exceptional (Top 5%) - Highly competitive for Oxford, Cambridge, UCL, LSE
  • 30-34 - Excellent (Top 10-15%) - Very competitive for all LNAT universities
  • 25-29 - Good (Top 25-40%) - Competitive for most LNAT universities
  • 20-24 - Average (Around 50th percentile) - Acceptable for many universities
  • Below 20 - Below average - May limit options at competitive universities

About the LNAT

Test Structure

The LNAT consists of two sections:

  • Section A (Multiple Choice): 42 questions based on 12 passages (95 minutes)
  • Section B (Essay): One essay from a choice of three topics (40 minutes)

Scoring

  • Section A is scored out of 42 (one point per correct answer)
  • No negative marking for incorrect answers
  • Section B is marked separately by universities (not included in the 0-42 score)
  • Universities receive both your Section A score and Section B essay

The LNAT testing window typically runs from August to January for entry in the following academic year. Check individual university deadlines as they vary.
